How does Bioavailable Boswellia with UC-II® work?
The Boswellia extract used in this formula provides 40% boswellic acids. These bioactive compounds enable Boswellia to support balanced cytokine levels for joint comfort, healthy functioning and range of movement. Cytokines are chemical mediators of the immune system associated with immune activation that impacts tissue health, bringing heat, redness, sensitisation and swelling, leading to a temporary reduction in function. Cytokine activation is supportive in the short-term but becomes problematic when this pathway is triggered chronically.
Boswellia supports the health of joint components called glycosaminoglycans, a group of molecules that support lubrication of joints. Additionally, Boswellia has potent antioxidant properties that help to neutralise free radicals, unstable molecules that can damage cells. Boswellia also supports a healthy balanced immune response. These actions collectively contribute to its unique support for joint health and mobility.
UC-II® is a patented form of undenatured Type II collagen. Undenatured means that the protein structure of the collagen in this formulation remains intact and has not been modified by processes like heating or chemical treatment. UC-II® travels intact to immune cells near the gut (Peyer’s Patch) where it supports the activity of regulatory T immune cells to recognise Type II collagen. When regulatory T cells recognise Type II collagen in joint cartilage, they release bioactive compounds that initiate joint restoration and recovery processes.
