Using your Gut Reset Journal, complete your initial health self-assessment, create a pre-Reset baseline, and track your progress through your gut reset programme. Measuring your progress and tracking goals is important because it allows you to see how far you’ve come, the progress you’ve made and is a great motivator to keep going.
Get in a good frame of mind. Day didn’t go as planned? Made food choices that you didn’t plan on despite best intentions? Had a cheeky wine to celebrate some good news? Forgot your supplements that day? It’s ok. We are aiming for progress, not perfection. Forgive yourself, pick something that you can do to support your health, and move on. Being aware, mindful, and non-judgemental of our choices can help us make difference choices the next time we are in a similar situation.
Remove gut damaging factors. These include foods that you react to and gastric irritants like alcohol, caffeine or drugs. Gastric irritants can be found in foods as well – sugar, artificial sweeteners, preservatives and GMO foods.

Balance
Step 1 (weeks 1-4): Introduce SporeBiotic™
SporeBiotic™ supports the growth and diversity of the microbiome and important keystone bacteria like Akkermansia and Bifidobacteria. We recommend starting out slowly in taking SporeBiotic™ to avoid symptoms associated with detoxification. The most common symptoms you might see are diarrhoea (loose stools) and intestinal cramping.
Week 1: 1 capsule of SporeBiotic™, every other day.
Week 2-8: 1 capsule of SporeBiotic™, daily.
Take with food or right after a meal (breakfast, lunch OR dinner). Capsules may be opened, and contents mixed in food or smoothies.
In Step 2, you will continue with the SporeBiotic™ and you will add in Gut Food and Good Guts.
Bloom
Step 2 (week 5-8): Add Gut Food and Good Guts
The second step is adding in Gut Food, which feeds only the keystone bacteria with galactooligosaccharides, xylooligosaccharides, and fructooligosaccharides. This is an important step in growing a healthy, thriving microbiome.
Week 5-8: 4 capsules of Gut Food, daily.
Take with or without a meal. Capsules may be opened, and contents mixed in food or smoothies.
You will also start taking Good Guts. The first complete mucosal supplement of its kind, Good Guts contains key amino acids and polyphenolic compounds to support microbial diversity and a strong and healthy mucosal barrier.
Week 5-8: 3 capsules of Good Guts, daily.
Take with or without a meal. Capsules may be opened, and contents mixed in food or smoothies.
Once you have been on the full protocol (SporeBiotic™ + Gut Food + Good Guts) for 30+ days, you can decrease the doses and follow a maintenance protocol.
Let’s talk detoxification and titration
The products in your Gut Reset Kit are so effective that they have been known to create “die-off” symptoms in individuals who have some pathogens to clear, who may have a compromised gut barrier, or who experience other types of gut and digestive dysfunction. Side effects come in all sorts of packages – we generally think of them as negative, as they can be unpleasant to experience. These can present differently depending on your starting health picture but can include bloating, diarrhoea (loose stools), constipation, changes in bowel habits, and digestive discomfort (gas or nausea), so if you have previously had gut issues you may want to start slowly. These symptoms are evidence that the protocol is working!
If you are experiencing any detoxification symptoms, we recommend titrating your supplements up, meaning add them slowly and build up the dose. Most supplement issues can be remedied by lowering the dose or by taking them with meals. Start at ½ the dose, and gradually work your way up to a full dose.
SporeBiotic™ is a therapeutic-grade spore-based probiotic that can occasionally cause side effects – mainly in two situations. 1) The body is already overwhelmed with multiple issues or challenges and altering the gut microbiome presents more change than the body can handle at that point in time; and/or 2) because SporeBiotic™ starves unfriendly bacteria, some people may experience die-off symptoms like diarrhoea. It also feeds friendly bacteria (a good thing!), and sometimes changing your bacterial population for the better may result in temporary gas or bloating.
Sensitive individuals who may have a greater level of gut dysfunction (or what is called ‘dysbiosis’) may want to start even more slowly with SporeBiotic™, taking ¼-½ cap every other day. Gradually increase the amount until you are able to comfortably take 1 capsule every day.
Although Gut Food’s formula is designed to not cause bloating, it still can. This is primarily because our diets have a lack of diversity, meaning we also have a lack of diversity in our gut bacteria. As the fibre in this formula starts feeding friendly bacteria, bacteria ferment the fibre and you may experience gas and bloating. This does not last forever – it just means that you need to go slower. Start with ½ dose and take with a large glass of water. If this goes well for 3 days, slowly increase to a full dose.
Maintenance protocol
Just like your own individual gut reset programme, maintenance can look different for everyone.
For most people, the best approach is to continue with SporeBiotic™ daily with the additional support of Gut Food and Good Guts a couple of times a week for maintaining a healthy gut environment. For some, repeating the 60-day Reset might be best. For others, revisiting a gut reset 2-3 times a year keeps their microbiome health in tip top shape and feeling great. It all depends on your individual health circumstances, your response to the protocol, and how you feel now.
Basic guidelines:
SporeBiotic™: Take 1 capsule per day 4-7 days per week. Some people prefer to take it every day, while others find that they can take 1-3 days off per week and still receive the same benefits.
Gut Food: Take 1 serve 2-3 times per week
Good Guts: Take 1 serve 2-3 times per week
Tips for gutsy gut resetters
- Take SporeBiotic™ with food: The amino acids and carbohydrates in food help change the dormant spores into their active, vegetative state in the GI tract.
- Drink lots of water: Drinking room temperature or warm water on an empty stomach is one of the best and easiest ways to support digestion. Ayurvedic principles teach us that warm water is gentle on the GI tract and stimulates digestion, which naturally helps food move along through the digestive tract and supports the removal of waste. Staying hydrated will support any potential detoxification symptoms and ensure you are having primo poos!
- Support energy levels: Make the switch from stimulant based energy boosts (coffee, simple carbohydrates and sugar) that provide spikes of energy, but soon lead to a slump, with plant-based energy boosters. These substances can all lead to unwanted changes in bowel habits, too!

- Eat for microbiome diversity: Did you know that your microbiome can change quickly? Like, VERY quickly? Research shows that within two to four days of changing your eating habits can have an impact on your gut microbiome! There is no prescribed diet to follow whilst you undertake your reset, however there are a lot of things one can do to follow a gut-healthy diet. Each meal, load up on vegetables, nuts, seeds, pulses, healthy grains and protein. Have an extra portion of green vegetables at dinner time and you’ll be too full for extra indulgences.
- Consider cutting out: If you are working to support the best digestive health, stay away from foods that you know aggravate you. The top five foods that can cause problems are gluten (wheat), corn, dairy, soy, and eggs. Avoid or minimise sugars and trans fats. Alcohol, caffeine and drugs are all known as gastric irritants – you’ll get the most out of your Gut Reset Kit if you opt out of these substances for the next 60 days.
