What is activated Vitamin B6?

Pyridoxal 5-phosphate (P5P) is the metabolically active form of vitamin B6 found in the body. For vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) to be utilised by the body, it must first be converted into its metabolically active form (pyridoxal 5-phosphate – P5P), a conversion process that occurs in the liver. For individuals with compromised liver function, this conversion process may be inefficient or inadequate, placing them at higher risk of Vitamin B6 deficiency. Supplementing with an activated form of B6 bypasses the need for liver conversion, allowing for greater availability for cellular health.

What does activated Vitamin B6 do in the body?

As one of a group of water-soluble B vitamins, activated vitamin B6 is required daily for over 100 essential enzymatic reactions that support brain development and function, immune health, red blood cell formation and manages blood sugar and homocysteine levels.

Activated B6 plays a crucial role in supporting the biochemical pathways of methylation and transsulferation - essential processes that support the production and health of cellular DNA and genetic expression, detoxification processes, immune function and neurological health. It is needed for the transformation and utilisation of amino acids in the body, including the production of the iron-containing protein haemoglobin found within red blood cells needed for energy, the glycoprotein Intrinsic Factor produced by the stomach’s parietal cells for the absorption of vitamin B12, as well as production of neurotransmitters such as GABA, dopamine and serotonin necessary for regulating mood, sleep and overall brain function.

5mL contains pyridoxal 5-phosphate monohydrate 7.84mg (equiv. Pyridoxine Vitamin B6) 5mg.

Other ingredients: purified water, glycerol (sunflower derived), xantham gum. 

Does not contain: Gluten, soy, corn, egg, dairy, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, aspartate, lactose, peanuts, phenylalanine, GMO.

Suggested Use

Adults: Take 1 teaspoon (5mL) once daily, or as directed by your health professional.
