Therapure my organic PHGG, developed in partnership with MTHFR Wellbeing, contains Sunfiber^® partially hydrolysed guar gum, an easy-to-dissolve naturally derived soluble fibre. This prebiotic fibre supports healthy digestive function, bowel regularity and stool consistency. Adults require around 6-8g of soluble fibre daily (around 25% of the total recommended daily dietary fibre intake of 25-30g). At almost 3.5g of fibre per serve, Therapure my organic PHGG offers an achievable, low-carb way to increase daily dietary fibre intake.

What is PHGG?

PHGG stands for partially hydrolysed guar gum, a 100% plant-sourced form of soluble, prebiotic dietary fibre that is water-soluble, transparent and tasteless. Hydrolysation is a natural enzymatic process that breaks down guar gum’s galactomannan polysaccharide molecules (complex carbohydrate fibre made up of repeating chains of galactose and mannose sugars) into smaller particles. This improves the solubility of PHGG in water without losing any of its fibre content.

Sunfiber^® PHGG is proven effective by more than 100 research studies for digestive health, gut health, glycemic control and satiety, without the typical side effects found with other fibre sources. It’s certified low-FODMAP and 100% gluten-free, while being gentle on the system, supporting healthy digestive function without the uncomfortable symptoms of excess gas and abdominal distension commonly seen with other higher FODMAP foods and fibres.

What does PHGG do for the body?

PHGG is a unique soluble fibre, also known as an indigestible complex carbohydrate. It contains glucomannan, the main prebiotic starch that feeds bifidobacterium and lactobacilli bacterial species in the colon to support the production of short chain fatty acid production (SCFAs) such as butyrate, propionate and acetate that nourish the gut barrier. Short-chain fatty acids like butyric acid is the primary fuel for the colonocyte cells that line the large intestine and it’s produced in the colon by the fermentation of fiber by the gut bacteria within the microbiome. Butyric acid is essential to help maintain healthy gut lining structure and function.

Suggested Use

Adults: Add 4g (approximately 1 level tablespoon) to drinks or water, stir to dissolve. Start with ¼ teaspoon and work up to support bowel tolerance.

Children: 12 months to 12 years, add 2g (½ level tablespoon) to drinks or water, stir to dissolve. Start with ¼ teaspoon and work up to support bowel tolerance.
